RoadAlert 242 ("we", "our", or "the app") is a community road safety app for the Bahamas, operated by Global Motion LLC. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

Location Data

When you use RoadAlert 242, we access your device's GPS location to:

Show your position on the map relative to active alerts
Determine whether you are within 2 miles of a newly reported alert to send you a push notification
Register your approximate location alongside your push token or web push subscription so our server can calculate proximity

We store a latitude/longitude pair linked to your device push token or web push subscription. Location data is updated as you move and is not linked to your name or email unless you have created an account.

Push Notification Token

If you grant notification permissions, we store your device push token (mobile app) or web push subscription endpoint (mobile web) and your last known location. This is used exclusively to send proximity-based road safety alerts. You can withdraw notification permissions at any time in your device settings.

Account Information

If you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password. You may optionally set a username. Your email is used for account authentication, email verification, and password reset. We do not sell or share your email address.

User-Submitted Reports

When you submit an alert (police presence, checkpoint, accident, or other), we store the alert type, an optional note, and the location coordinates. Reports are visible to all users, expire after 60 minutes, and are anonymised — they are not publicly linked to your account or identity.

Subscription and Payment Data

If you purchase a Pro subscription, payment is processed by Stripe and subscription status is managed by RevenueCat. We do not store your credit card details. We store only your subscription status and expiry date linked to your account.

Crash and Error Reports

The app automatically reports crashes and runtime errors to help us improve stability. These reports include device type, operating system version, and a stack trace. They do not include your name, email, or location.

2. How We Use Your Information

To display active alerts on the map
To send push notifications when a new alert is reported within 2 miles of your location
To provide Driving Mode voice announcements for nearby alerts
To authenticate your account and send transactional emails (verification, password reset)
To process Pro subscription purchases and manage access
To monitor app stability and fix crashes

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

3. Data Retention

Alert reports — automatically deleted 60 minutes after submission
Push tokens & location — retained until you uninstall the app or revoke notification permissions
Account data — retained until you delete your account
Subscription records — retained for legal and financial record-keeping requirements

4. Third-Party Services

RoadAlert 242 uses the following third-party services:

Mapbox — map rendering and tile delivery. See Mapbox's Privacy Policy.
Expo Push Notifications — mobile push notification delivery via Apple (APNs) and Google (FCM). See Expo's Privacy Policy.
Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.

5. Children's Privacy

RoadAlert 242 is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To delete your account and associated personal data, visit roadalert242.app/delete-account. Road reports you submitted will remain anonymously on the platform.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
